Korra Obidi, known for her appearance on So You Think You Can Dance in 2019, is recovering from a traumatic attack in London. The dancer revealed on Instagram that she was assaulted by an unidentified assailant, describing the ordeal as a “knife, acid attack” during a live stream.
In an Instagram video capturing the aftermath of the incident, Obidi can be heard requesting assistance to neutralize the acid that had been thrown at her face. The video also shows a sharp yellow knife lying on the ground, indicating the severity of the attack. Emergency responders can be seen attending to her injuries, washing out her eyes and providing medical aid.
London authorities have yet to comment on the incident, but a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that they responded to an assault in central London. The spokesperson stated that a woman in her 30s sustained a cut to her hand and reported a liquid being thrown at her face. However, the liquid was determined to be a non-noxious cosmetic item. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
In an update on her condition, Obidi reassured her followers that she was in the hospital and recovering. She disclosed that the acid thrown at her was salicylic and expressed gratitude for surviving the attack.
