SpaceX Sets Another Milestone with the Remarkable Launch of 24 Starlink Satellites from Florida

SpaceX achieved another milestone as it successfully launched 24 Starlink internet satellites from Florida, marking its 18th mission of 2024.

The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 5:06 p.m. EST (2206 GMT) on Sunday (Feb. 25) from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, carrying the 24 Starlink spacecraft into orbit.

The Falcon 9’s first stage executed a flawless return to Earth approximately 8.5 minutes post-launch, accomplishing a vertical landing on the SpaceX droneship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” positioned in the Atlantic Ocean. This particular booster has completed its 13th launch and landing, with eight of its previous missions dedicated to Starlink.

Meanwhile, the rocket’s upper stage continued its trajectory, deploying the satellites into low Earth orbit about 65 minutes after liftoff.

SpaceX continues its ambitious launch schedule, with this being the 18th launch of the year. The company remains on track to conduct a staggering 144 orbital missions in 2024.

This launch follows closely on the heels of two significant milestones for SpaceX. On Tuesday (Feb. 20), the company celebrated its 300th successful Falcon 9 liftoff by deploying an Indonesian telecom satellite named Merah Putih 2. Moreover, Thursday’s (Feb. 22) Starlink launch marked the 19th flight for a Falcon 9 first-stage booster, matching SpaceX’s rocket reuse record.
